GUIDE

DevTool video & YouTube agencies, compared honestly

Five options for devtool and API companies investing in video: what each actually does, what it costs, and who it fits. We're one of the five, so judge our self-description accordingly and verify anything that matters directly with each company.

These five companies aren't interchangeable. Some produce video, one is a written-content agency that added video, one doesn't produce content at all but places you with creators who do.

The right pick depends on whether you want an owned channel, a broader content program, or a one-off placement with an existing audience.

V

Videodeck

In-house video production agency

What they do
Script, shoot, and edit using hired, on-camera presenters rather than your own team or a faceless format. Public marketing states they've produced 1,000+ videos across four years for 100+ software companies in categories including martech, AI, fintech, and devtools.
Pricing (public)
Monthly plans from $2,000-$2,500 per video depending on volume (4 to 12 videos/month), or one-off packages from $3,000-$5,000 per video. Distribution, design, and UGC/social are sold as separate add-ons ($2,900-$6,500/month each).
Good fit if
You want a channel that feels like a produced show with consistent on-camera talent, and you're comfortable adding production services as separate line items.
Worth knowing
Their own marketing argues against faceless formats, so if you want your product's code and output to be the visual focus, that's a difference in philosophy, not just execution.
D

Draft.dev

Written-content agency, video added 2023

What they do
Primarily a written technical content agency, built on a network of 300+ engineer-writers, serving companies including Docker, Cloudflare, and JetBrains for content generally. They added video tutorials in December 2023 after acquiring an audio/video production team, using a dedicated A/V crew and a voiceover actor to read scripts.
Pricing (public)
Plans start at $9,000/month with a 3-month minimum commitment. This is blended pricing across content types; video-only pricing isn't broken out separately.
Good fit if
You need a broad written-content program (blog, SEO, tutorials, docs) and want video folded in as one more format rather than the primary channel.
Worth knowing
Video is a 2023 addition to an already-established written-content business, not their original specialty.

Infrasity

Multi-surface devtool content & DevRel agency

What they do
A broader devtool content and DevRel agency covering technical writing, docs, video production, Reddit marketing, and what they call generative engine optimization (GEO). Presenters and writers are framed as engineers with 5-10+ years of experience. Video format varies: some on-camera developer-advocate style, some faceless/animated. Public client list includes DevZero, Firefly.ai, Kubiya.ai, and Qodo.
Pricing
Not published. Engagement is described as monthly retainers with a 3-6 month minimum, requiring a sales call for specifics.
Good fit if
You want one agency handling multiple content surfaces (docs, video, community, AI-answer optimization) rather than coordinating separate vendors.
Worth taking seriously
Infrasity makes a well-argued point that applies to everyone on this list: "Models cite text far more readily than they cite video. A tutorial that exists only as a YouTube upload converts the viewer and then goes quiet in every AI answer about your category." Their fix is pairing every video with a written companion. We agree, and cover it in our own playbook.
P

Plug.dev

Creator placement & program management

What they do
Not a production agency. Plug.dev is explicit that it doesn't represent or exclusively manage creators; it sources, negotiates, contracts, and reports on placements between devtool companies and independent YouTube creators who keep working with whoever they choose. Talent includes established developer-creators with their own audiences; their site cites placements reaching Anthropic, Neon, Dub, Descope, and GitHub as sponsors/partners.
Pricing (public)
Creator-Led Growth Program starts at $5,000/month.
Good fit if
You want fast access to an existing, relevant audience for a launch or campaign window, and you're comfortable not owning the channel the content lives on.
Worth knowing
Per their own comparison content, they've started pairing creator video placements with written, AEO-oriented companion content, the same gap Infrasity names above.

Mix & Go

Engineer-built, owned YouTube channel

What we do
Build and record a real integration with your product using one of our own engineers, no hired on-camera talent and no personal-brand creator. Topics come from search volume data on what developers actually type into Google and YouTube, not intuition or a content calendar. The channel, the footage, and the code from every integration belong to you.
Pricing
$2,000 pilot (refundable within 7 days), then $6,000/month for four videos, month to month. Full breakdown on our pricing page.
Good fit if
You want an owned channel where the visual proof is the product working, not a face, and you'd rather have a fixed monthly engagement than per-video or per-placement pricing.
Worth knowing, since we're not neutral here
We're newer than Videodeck or Draft.dev; our track record is our founder's own $550K channel (case study) plus current client work. Like everyone above, video alone doesn't get cited well by AI models, so we treat written companion pages as part of the offering.
